Privacy & Policy
What we collect, what we don’t, and which third parties touch your data — in plain English.
§ I. Introduction
WriteRed is an AI speechwriting platform built for political communications professionals. We’re a small US-based team and we’re running an invite-only live beta. This page tells you what we collect about you, how we use it, and who else gets to see it. We’ve kept it short on purpose. If something here is ambiguous, write us and ask.
§ II. Information We Collect
- Account info.Your name, email address, and the password you set (stored hashed via Supabase Auth — we never see it).
- Profile and library data.Your principal’s biography, voice rules, policy positions, research preferences, and any past speeches you upload (PDF, DOCX, or TXT).
- Usage data. Pipeline runs, generated drafts, riffs, edits, version history, and feedback notes you write.
- Payment info. Handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We never see or store card numbers.
- Authentication metadata. Login timestamps and session tokens, managed by Supabase Auth.
§ III. How We Use It
- To run the AI pipeline and generate the drafts you ask for.
- To keep your library, riffs, and version history available between sessions.
- To process billing and send transactional email (receipts, password resets, pipeline status).
- To respond to support requests.
- To debug failures and improve the product.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run advertising on WriteRed.
§ IV. Third-Party Services
WriteRed depends on a small set of vendors. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Supabase— Postgres database, authentication, and file storage. Hosted in US East.
- Vercel— hosts the application itself.
- Anthropic— runs the Claude models that power the speechwriting agents.
- Tavily— web research API used by the Researcher agent.
- Stripe— payments, subscriptions, and the billing portal.
- Resend — transactional email from quill@writered.app.
§ V. AI Processing
When you generate a speech, your library content (principal profile, voice rules, policy positions, relevant past speeches) and your prompt are sent to Anthropic to produce the draft, and to Tavily for web research lookups. That’s how the product works.
Per Anthropic’s terms, customer prompt and completion content submitted through the API is not used to train their models by default. We do not opt in to training, and we do not share your content with anyone for advertising or model training.
§ VI. Data Retention
We keep your account, library, and speeches for the life of your account so the product gets smarter the longer you use it. To delete your account and associated data, email matt@writered.appand we’ll handle it within a few business days. Self-serve deletion is on the roadmap.
§ VII. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Database access is scoped per user via Supabase Row Level Security.
- Uploaded files live in a private Supabase Storage bucket scoped to your user ID.
- We never store payment card numbers — Stripe handles all card data.
- No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong, we’ll tell you.
§ VIII. Your Choices
You can correct anything in your library directly in the app. You can request deletion or a copy of your data by email at matt@writered.app. Self-serve export is on the roadmap. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA — contact us and we’ll work with you.
§ IX. Children
WriteRed is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has signed up, write us and we’ll remove the account.
§ X. International Users
WriteRed is operated in the United States and your data is processed in the United States. If you’re using the product from outside the US, you’re consenting to that processing. We don’t claim adequacy under GDPR or other foreign privacy regimes today.
§ XI. Changes
We’ll update this page as the product evolves. For significant changes, we’ll email everyone with an active account before the change takes effect.
